At ‘Kids Dot Calm’ our aim is to ensure that all the children and families that we support feel respected, valued and empowered. Family is of paramount importance, and yet as parents, we understand that unexpected events, traumatic experiences, difficult transitions, complex relationships and other influences can at times have a negative impact on children’s emotional health and wellbeing, and the family as a whole. We aim to empower the children and families that we work with to gain the skills and perspective they need to overcome their difficulties, and we work in partnership with the child and family to achieve common goals.
Life for children and adolescents can often be confusing, difficult and scary as they navigate challenges in their school life, home life, friendships and relationships whilst exploring and developing their self-identity and a sense of belonging. Often, supporting children with these challenges and maintaining their positive emotional wellbeing is more than one person, couple or family can achieve alone. Sometimes they need a helping hand to restore balance and harmony within their family and help the child to understand their difficulties and equip them with the necessary problem-solving skills and coping strategies to approach their challenges in a healthy and positive way.
There are many challenges in children’s home, school and social lives which they can struggle to cope with. If a child cannot resolve their issues with their family or trusted others, then professional help can enable the child and family to understand and manage stress or emotional/behavioural issues.
We believe in the strength of the family system and the important role that each family member can play in facilitating positive change and achieving treatment goals. We also believe that given the skills, strategies and opportunities to understand and manage their feelings and experiences, children and adolescents demonstrate remarkable emotional strength and have the ability to overcome challenging obstacles.
Here at Kids Dot Calm we have the resources, expertise, experience and training to support your child and family to restore and maintain healthy emotional wellbeing and make a real, positive difference. Our approaches are based upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy and talking therapies, and our treatment plans and techniques are adapted and uniquely tailored to each child’s culture, situation and treatment goals to meet individual needs with the understanding that each child and family are different.
